Thank You, Carrboro

Friends and neighbors,

On Tuesday, Carrboro voters turned out in record numbers to elect a mayor, council members, and school board members. I will carry the trust you placed in me through all the work I do as mayor. Thank you.

I am also grateful to Mayor Lydia Lavelle for her years of friendship, mentorship, and leadership. Her service has made North Carolina a better place.

Meanwhile, the work of your Town Council, town staff, and volunteer advisory boards continues. Over the next few weeks, we will take the next steps in completing the 203 Project—the future home of an Orange County branch library and more—and the Carrboro Connects comprehensive plan. My conversations with you during the campaign were filled with the same enthusiasm for Carrboro’s future that you brought to Carrboro Connects. Continue to make your voice heard on the draft plan at carrboroconnects.org.

I hope you will join me in congratulating Council Member Barbara Foushee, Council Member Randee Haven-O’Donnell, and Council Member–elect Danny Nowell on their successful campaigns. Please also join me in appreciating Council Member Jacquie Gist, whose many years of dedicated service on the Town Council have been important both to me personally and to the community as a whole. We will celebrate all these exceptional leaders during the Town Council’s organizational meeting in December.

With gratitude,

Damon
